What the Bible Says about Salvation
Salvation is provided by God Himself.
Genesis 22:8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
And God did provide; He gave us his only begotten son, Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ came into the world to die for sinners.
1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
Yes, the Bible says that men are born sinners.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Man is full of trouble.
Job 14:1 Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
Man is shaped in iniquity. (iniquity is depravity, wickedness, unrighteousness)
Psalms 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
See, the Bible is clear about man and his sinful condition.
God can not look on sin because He is a Holy God.
Habakkuk 1:13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity:
So what can man do? Well, do you remember that God provided His Son Jesus Christ? Why did God give us His son?
The bible tells us it was so that man can have forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Colossians 1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Through the blood of Jesus Christ we have forgiveness of sins. HIS blood was shed when HE was crucified on the cross. We only must place our faith in what the bible calls ‘the gospel’.
Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
What is the gospel?
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
1. Christ died for our sins.
Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
2. He was buried.
Matthew 27:59-60 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
HIS body was laid in a tomb and his soul went to hell for you and for me.
Psalms 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
Acts 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
Isaiah 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
3. Jesus rose again from the dead.
Luke 24:6 He is not here, but is risen:
Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ is the only way to have all your sins forgiven and have eternal life.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Jesus is THE way. You can do nothing to save yourself.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
My friend, today will you consider Jesus Christ who died for our sins to give us eternal life through HIS saving grace alone?
Hebrews 3:15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
Call upon Jesus to save your soul from your sins.
Psalms 86:5 For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Tomorrow may be too late.
Hebrews 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
